Breakfast is considered as the "king of all meals", and the most important meal of the day. But just because one meal is so important, it doesn’t mean other meals are not that important (Break your Fast)Eating wrong foods at wrong timings will disrupt your sleep cycle while adding a lot of calories. Greasy food, oily food, frozen food, curd, or ice cream should be avoided during night time, may be it can cause GERD, weight gain and many more diseases. Even if you eat them, take them in moderation. Here are some tips for eating healthy at night:
1. Do not eat curd at night, especially if you are prone to cough and cold. According to Ayurveda, consuming curd at night is not healthy as it increases kapha dosha or mucus development in the body. 

2. Do not drink too much water after having your dinner. After half an hour, have a few sips of warm water. This aids in digestion and removes extra gas from the system. Don't think about grabbing a can of soda or juice full of empty calories.

3. Sugary foods like cakes, cookies, or other desserts spike the blood-sugar levels that could also cause your energy levels to spike, thus disrupting your sleep. Reduce the sugar intake at night and replace it with honey as it helps in reducing the mucus development and facilitates weight loss.

4. Drinking turmeric milk at night not just prevents mucus formation, but also fights bacteria and gives you a sound sleep.

5. Spices like cinnamon, fennel (saunf), fenugreek and cardamom used for enhancing the flavour of the dishes should be included in your dinner as they help in increasing the warmth in your body, and may also aid weight loss by curbing appetite.

6.  Eating raw salads at night may increase vaayu dosha in body, says Ayurveda. Raw food is extremely healthy and bursting with nutrients. People with weak digestive systems may not be able to digest the fibre effectively leading to gas and flatulence. Post 6 p.m, the digestive fire is anyway weak, which will further add to health issues. According to me "There is nothing wrong in eating raw foods in the evening. If your digestive capacity is good, you can go ahead with your usual eating habits, but if you are already facing trouble with your digestion, you may want to give raw foods a skip in the evening. You can cook them in a healthy way. You can steam, boil, saute, or even poach them.''

7. Try to include more of pulses, quinoa, veggies like broccoli and cottage cheese in your dinner as consuming more of protein and less of carbs will help in burning your fat energy stores.

8. Salt increases the water retention in the body. Eliminating salty foods from your diet helps in lowering the risks of stroke, heart disease, blood pressure and premature death.
9. Eat low-carb foods at night as they are easy to digest. Eating heavy food at night will disrupt your sleep and make you feel sluggish the next morning.

10. Eating dinner in limited quantities helps you to have a sound sleep. Eating in large amount at night makes it difficult for our body to digest.
