Covid-19 has made us all realize that the most important aspect of one's life is their health. Let's introduce you to Giloy, which is a rejuvenating herb for the body. Its scientific name is Tinospora Cordifolia and also known as Guduchi. In Sanskrit, Giloy is known as "Amrita", which means "The Root of Immortality". Giloy plants are native to India, Srilanka, and Myanmar. Giloy plant is basically a climber with weak succulent stems. The stem is whitish to grey in shade and it can grow to a thickness of 1-5 cm. Leaves of Giloy are heart-shaped and membranous (thin). It bears greenish-yellow flowers during summer months while the fruits of Giloy plants are more commonly seen in winters. Giloy fruits are greenish drupes which become red on maturity. Most of the medicinal benefits of Giloy are present in its stem, but the leaves, fruit, and roots are also used to a minor extent.
Here are some benefits of Giloy:
1. Giloy Boosts Immunity
It is a powerhouse of antioxidants that fight free radicals, keep your cells healthy, and get rid of diseases.
2. Giloy Treats Chronic Fever
Giloy helps get rid of recurrent fevers. Since Giloy is anti-pyretic in nature, it can reduce the signs and symptoms of several life-threatening conditions like Typhoid, Malaria, Dengue, and Swine Flu. So, the next time you have a fever, you can opt for a cup of Giloy juice to get rid of it instead of popping up paracetamol.
3. Giloy Manages Type II Diabetes
Giloy acts as a hypoglycaemic agent and helps treat Type 2 diabetes. It lowers down high blood sugar levels. 
4. Giloy Removes Toxins From The Body
Among various advantages, Giloy also acts as a blood purifier. It removes toxins from the kidney & liver and cleanses the body.
5. Giloy Improves Digestive Problems
Giloy managing the digestive system and improving bowel movement. It is also commonly used in various Indian digestive powders or Churan. 1 tbsp of Giloy powder with jaggery helps to ease constipation.

6. Giloy Ease Respiratory Problems
Giloy has been found to be effective in the treatment of a chronic cough, allergic rhinitis, and may also be helpful in relieving the symptoms of asthma.
7. Giloy Helps in Weight Management
Giloy has hypolipidemic actions, which make it excellent for weight loss when consumed regularly. It increases metabolism and lowers cholesterol levels.

Anemia is a condition that develops when there is an iron deficiency or lack of healthy red blood cells or haemoglobin in the blood. In India 50% of women suffering from anaemia. Giloy is helpful in relieving anemia. It increases blood platelets and improves immunity.
9. Giloy Improves Vision
Giloy is known to have antioxidants such as lutein which is great for your eyes. These antioxidants help in improving your eyesight and keeping your eyes healthy.
10. Giloy has Anti-aging Properties
Giloy is the "Powerhouse of Antioxidants", it fights from free radicals, rejuvenates the skin and promotes longevity.
Giloy is a true gift from nature, it also enhances memory, treats gout & arthritis, manages stress, manages anxiety, improves libido in men, and eases the symptoms of menopause in women.

Giloy is a magical herb, it works on all the three doshas and helps build all the seven dhatus or tissues (plasma, blood, bone marrow, muscle, bone, and reproductive tissues) of the body.

How to Use:
Giloy Juice - 1-2 teaspoon. Once a day.
Giloy Powder - 1-2 teaspoon. Once a day.
Add 1 inch of Giloy stem in 1 glass of water boil it 2-3 minutes and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning once a day.
Note: There are no serious side-effects of consuming Giloy since it is a natural and safe herbal remedy. However, in some cases - the use of Giloy can cause lower blood sugar levels. So if you are diabetic and have been consuming Giloy on a long-term basis, monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. Also, avoid Giloy if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
